Overview
Welcome to the Carnival of Fail guild website. We are an Alliance Faction guild with ten-man core raiding team composition as our focus. Our goal is to be one of the top ranked on the server. The team is competitive, and we will strive to complete the top-end heroic content (something that a small % of those who play WoW will ever get to see.)
We're looking for players who already possess the raid readiness & awareness. Please note that guild achievements will be promoted and while we don't discourage solo player achievements, they will not be the focus of the guild.
Take a look below for some information on our member policies. If you feel like you fit in with these requirements, then please apply! We generally do 'live' interviews over Vent and offer a probationary run period with all our new members.
Policies
Raid Times
All times are Server Time (EST - 1).
Tuesday – 7:00PM to 9:30PM (8:00 to 10:30 EST)
Wednesday – 7:00PM to 9:30PM
Thursday – 7:00PM to 930PM
Groups are formed 15minutes before the start time. The first pull will be be at 7:00 sharp. Punctuality is essential.
Attendance
If you sign up for a raid you are expected to be there (i.e., at the instance) on time. You are making a commitment to the other people in the raid. If you cannot make a scheduled raid, we request that you inform the raid leader via a post to the appropriate message board, in advance, or if possible--through an in-game whisper. If you fail to send proper notification, you impact the creation of the raid groups, and waste the time of the other people who do show up. We're understand that emergencies occur or life gets in the way, but repeated unexcused absences from the raid could mean losing your spot.
Don't go AFK. If you are going AFK too often (especially if you do it without letting the raid leaders know), you will find yourself removed from the raid. We will generally have a break at some point during the raid, so try to wait until then unless its something important.
Consumables
We expect that you to be using an appropriate flask/foods/buffs etc., during all progression content and that you're equipped with other appropriate consumables (e.g. haste/mana potions).
Theorycraft
We expect our raiders to know their class inside and out. Especially considering the individuality of the groups' class composition. We aren't going to hold your hand because...well, we can't :). So, you will need to do your own research to find your optimal gearing, rotations, etc..
Connection/Computers
We need our raiders to play on stable internet connections in order to succeed. Understandably, Localized ISP problems/power outages do happen, however, we simply cannot afford have anyone on the roster who disconnects during every raid as it will slow down the progression of the raid
You will also need to have a decent computer, one fast enough to handle the demands of top-end raiding content. Sometimes things can get pretty hectic, with a huge number of spell effects etc. on the screen, on top of having Ventrillo open as well. We will expect that you will be able to perform at your best under those conditions. Excessive DC'ing holds an entire raid hostage.
Drama
In a word, none. We are here to have fun while making our way through the most challenging content in the game. We don’t want to sit and listen to people cry about stupid things or bring their personal issues into our raids. We expect people to act like adults. Anyone causing excessive angst will be removed from the Guild. Anyone causing any strife,insta-kick. Anyone using the guild as a dating pool; insta-kick.
Raid Tools
All raiders are expected to have, at a minimum, DBM and Vent. DPS classes must have some form of threat monitor such as Omen or Skada. Please note that our vent is configured to handle users playing on both Windows and Macintosh computing environments.
Loot
Chosen system of loot distribution is to use a Loot Council. Loot drops are linked in raid chat, a roll will signify that an individual would like the item. The officers decide which player to give the item to. We do record who gets which item, in order to make sure we distribute items fairly evenly. Need rolls will be evenly distributed throughout the course of an evening (no back to back wins- meaning, if you were selected as the recipient on one drop, and then opt in on the next boss loot drop- if other people need roll that item it will be passed on to them). In addition, you will be required to have your best in slot list prepared before entering new content. Atlas Loot shared wish lists will help keep us informed of what you need.
We take into consideration a multitude of things when deciding who to give loot to. A player’s performance/attitude/attendance/contribution to the raid and the guild will usually be our primary consideration, but please understand that there will sometimes be preference given to raiders that fill critical roles (for example, it is usually a good idea to gear up tanks and healers first when progressing through fresh content). We have never had a loot issue in our guild.
Raiders who are always in attendance will get preference over raiders who are sporadic. One person's gear is gear for the benefit of the entire team's progress. Lateral upgrades will never be given preference over a true BiS upgrade. Anyone caught QQing about loot gets the insta-kick.
Raid Preparation
We expect raid members to be prepared for progression content. This means more than just watching the TankSpot video! It means studying various strategies and understanding the mechanics of the encounters. Even though you may not have experienced the fight, knowing what to expect (and what will be expected of you) is vital for the group's success. All your mods must be up and running; as well as having your bags packed with whatever you need to perform at your best! Optimal Enchants/Gemming/Reforging is also expected of every raider. In addition, with every patch comes class mechanic changes! It will be your responsibility to know what you need to tweak!
Carnival of Fail is a guild comprised of fun, down to earth players (most of us 'Vanilla-Veterans') looking to enjoy the game while progressing into the top tier of the end-game content. While these rules are a requirement, we're also a flexible and understanding group. If you've read this far and aren't turned off by the policies set in place; if you are a player who knows their stuff and is used to a raiding environment and is looking to join a guild with end-game vision in mind, hit the "apply" button to the left. This will alert the GM that you are interested in joing. An interview on Vent is required, as is a 1-2 week test drive with the guild. We look forward to meeting you!
Thanks for taking the time to check out The Carnies!
